Yamah Studio Manager 2 auf OS XYamaha Studio Manager 2 on Mac OS X

Ich verwende Yamaha’s Studio Manager 2 nur sehr spärlich umd ein paar digitale Mischer (O1V96, O2R, …) zu verwalten und Backups zu machen. Kürzlich hatte ich Probleme mit dem Synchronisieren und deshalb hier die Schritte zum erfolgreichen Sync mit der Hardware:

1. Zuerst auf der Yamaha Hompage nachschauen, ob die Versionen vom Studio Manager 2, dem Treiber fürs Pult und der Firmware fürs Pult zusammenpassen!
2. Im Mischpult prüfen, ob USB für den Studio Manager ausgewählt ist auf der MIDI/HOST Seite im DIO/SETUP des O1V96.
3. Mac und Mischpult über USB verbinden
4. Einen bestehenden Workspace öffnen oder einen neuen erstellen.
5. In den Einstellungen des SM2 Programms zumindest den ersten Port des Mischpults für Input und Output anclicken.
6. Dann das Mischpult Icon zweimal anclicken um das Mischpult zu öffnen und im Setup Menü sicherstellen, dass die richtigen Ein-/Ausgänge ausgewählt sind in den zwei Dropdowns und dass die korrekte Device ID des Mischpults ausgewählt ist!
7. Jetzt kann man das Mischpult über das Total Recall Menü¸ synchronisieren.

Der Grund für diesen Blogeintrag ist der Punkt 6. Ich hab den Studio Manager schon einige Monate nicht mehr verwendet und als ich ihn am dringensten gebraucht habe, hat der Total Recall nicht funktioniert. Grund dafür war Punkt 6, weil nicht die richtigen Portnamen ausgewählt waren. Bei mir haben sich die Portnamen des O1V96 mit dem neuen USB Treiber geändert und nix ging mehr. Ich finds auch etwas komisch, dass ich die Ports nochmal für jedes Pult im Editor wählen muss, das aber an der Hardware nicht machen kann und wenn schon in der Software, dann an nur einem Ort bitteschön.I use Yamaha’s studio manager 2 application from time to time to manage and backup some digital mixers we have (O1V96, O2R, …). Because i use it rarely i had recently troubles to sync the data from my mac with the hardware. Here are the steps to follow:

1. Check on the yamaha website if the versions of the studio manager application, the drivers for your mixing desk and the firmware of your mixer match!
2. Check if USB is selected for the studio manager in the DIO/SETUP of your O1V96 on the MIDI/HOST page
3. connect your mixer with USB to your mac
4. open or create a workspace
5. got to the preferences of the SM2 application and enable at least the first port for input and output for your desk
6. double click on the icon of your mixer and open it, then go to the setup menu item and make sure that the correct input and output are selected in the two dropdowns and that the correct device id is chosen!
7. now you can synch your device using the total recall menu of the SM2 application

The reason to write this blog entry is step 6. I have used this succesfully a long time ago and when i needed it most, it didn’t work. The cause of the problem was that i updated the USB drivers and the port names for my desk have changed, so step 6 was the most important one, because i had to select the right ports! In my opinion it’s a bit odd to setup the port inside the desks editor first and make a total recall afterwards, but ok, that’s the yamaha way to do it.
